    MovieClip texture interactivity

I've learned from your materials how to use a library MovieClip as a live texture.  However, I am unable to click any of the buttons on the MovieClip.   Is this possible?  What needs to be done to make this happen?

I looked at your interactive cube example but didn't gain any further insight.   Please assist.

    thanks, Tony

    Hello Tony,

In the coming day or so we will be releasing a few FreeSpin3D Builders which are AddOns to the product. One of them will enable in a very easy way to add hotspots to the texture with mouse events which you can handle.

    That sounds great.

However, just to be clear.   There currently is no way for me to have the face of a cube be a MovieClip and it be as interactive as it would be if it were not on the face of the cube?  And it sounds like the hotspot add-on will not allow for this?

I would simply like to make an interactive menu, dynamic XML(latest news), dynamic text fields(scrollable), video player, photo gallery, rollover button animations, mp3 player with a playlist, etc  --- and then map that MovieClip or those MovieClips to the faces of a cube and have the full interactivity of those modules.

For example a dynamic text field with a scroll bar - can I scroll the text if I map it to the face of a cube?

Actually there is a way to do it with the current version, only it requires lots of coding and 3D mathematics, the AddO, which are called SpinUps provides a simple interface for the same implementation.

What you defined is easily achived with the Attach Display Objects SpinUp that will be released Monday.

See the two examples attached - all created with the SpinUp.

In both examples, use the keyboard arrows to rotate, and the mouse to click (In the crate example, click on the doors and they will open). Note that all the shapes (also the sides of the crate) are Flash MovieClips, so you can basically do what you want.

Simple interface sounds a lot better than complex 3d mathematics - that sounds like general relativity - not for me.

I look forward to checking out the new Add-ons this coming week.

    have a splendiferous weekend.

Their final name are 'SpinUps' - they will be released at the Adobe Max next week.

You can get a preview at http://www.freespin3d.com/spinups/

    Re: MovieClip texture interactivity

Can u please direct me to the tutorial ... I am trying to make the texture intractable. I guess I am looking for (keyword) Live Texture. But till now I didn't get the step by step tutorial ! I added the button symbol inside the texture and wrote action for that in texture movieclip. it doesnt work ... it doesnt respond to click ... though if i trace in the main (global span) in side the texture movie clip the value is traced.
