    Local 3ds conversion.

I think you have a great product except for one thing. No local coversion of 3ds files. You need to have local coversion of 3d files into your program. Without local convertion I would not buy the program. I mean come on. swift3d can import 3ds files directy. papervision can import collada files that you can make from converted 3ds files from blender or 3dsmax. Why cant your porgram do local 3ds conversion?

    Re: Local 3ds conversion.

Hi,Thank you for your input and your question. The FreeSpin3D product was built to allow real time rendering of 3D content in Flash, while keeping all the needs for a commercial solution in mind:
    • CPU friendly
    • Small file size
    • No defects in the models
To answer those needs we created a proprietary import process that manipulates and compiles the 3D Model into a proprietary polygonal data structure. The result of the import is a unique graphic representation of the 3D Model, it’s called an MDF file (Model Data File). This approach allows to:
    • Implement our proprietary algorithms to diagnose and solve any complex structures in the 3D Model beforehand, allowing a smooth, accurate and optimized real-time rendering of the 3D Model within the Adobe Flash movie.
    • Seamless integrate the 3D Model with Adobe Flash optimizing the CPU usage.
    • Optimize the file size by allowing the definition of the parts of the 3D model needed for real time rendering, for example, in a FPS scene, not all of the 3D model is need only the back of it, decreasing the file size substantially.
Now, there are two main reasons the conversion is performed online:
    1. It allows us to easily perfect and update our algorithms (which we do quite often) without the need for product updates.
    2. The conversion needs high computer power, so we created a state of the art conversion farm to free our users of performing the conversion locally "slowing" their computers, this way they can send as many models they want for conversion, and when they are ready, download them as MDF files ready to be imported into Adobe Flash. Obviously the MDF files can be used as 3D models for Flash.
    Hope this helps.

    Re: Local 3ds conversion.

Ok. Lets look at it a different way. You are a new company. When You release this product and you sell it for X$. People buy it but not enough to keep your new company alive. Then a year later your company goes under and all the people who bought the plug in cant there models converted.

Or lets look at it another way. You are only selling people half a product. You will make people dependent on your company in order to get there models coverted to the right format for your plugin. Later you want to make it a subscription for your service and then it becomes a recuring cost to your clent base.  Eather one of these sanaroios are not exseptible. Do the right thing and relese the entire product. Companys releases service packs all the time and it is not a big deal and cpu power is faster then ever before.

Not to be argumentitive but people should not buy software that is only half the product or that they have to keep paying for.

Like I siad in my first post. I think you have a great product but you need to make it standalone with all the bells and whistles on the client. Not on a server in your data center.

Hi DW, Thanks for taking time and posting your input. Let me put you at ease – the company is stable, and is fully backed and funded by premium VC’s.To the point – we have in the pipeline a standalone conversion option, and offer plug-ins. Cheers
