    Collision detection

    Hello,

Just first want to say that I am exited about the opportunity of adding 3D capability to flash and being able to manipulate 3D objects through actionscript.  Currently I am testing out the collision detection api.  I was expecting the collision detection to be a true 3D collision detection however any intersection between the two objects even if on different planes causes a collision.  Will this change in future versions? Also there isn't a way to get a true 3D width, height, and lenth of a FreeSpin3D object.  Currently the width of the object changes based on the orientation.  Without being able to get the through width of a 3D object, Im not sure I can get a true collision detection between two 3D objects.  Am I missing something or is this not supported in the current version?

    Re: Collision detection

    Hi Ibeezy,

We are happy to hear this – It’s a compliment – Thanks!

    Now regarding your question:

In the current version there are 2D collision detection functions:

    RviCheckDisplayObjectCollision ()

    RviCheckFreeSpin3DModelCollision ()

    RviCheckPixelCollision ()

Use these functions instead of the flash function, as they are more precise (compare shapes)

3D Collision functions will be included in the API in a future version of FreeSpin3D.
